Helen Margaret Lawlor

It is with great sadness that I share with you today the passing of a great Public Health Nursing leader in our province. Helen Lawlor passed away on Thursday after a short illness.
Helen was the last person in this province to hold the title of Provincial Director of Public Health Nursing. She was also awarded a Lifetime member of the Canadian Public Health Association (CPHA). She will be greatly missed. Please see the link below to her obituary.

Welcome to the Newfoundland and Labrador Public Health Association (NLPHA)

The Newfoundland & Labrador Public Health Association (NLPHA) is an independent, voluntary, non-profit provincial advocacy group comprised of health professionals, community members, and affiliated organizations who promote and support public health.

The Association is affiliated with the Canadian Public Health Association (CPHA) and is a member of the Canadian Network of Public Health Associations.

Origins of the NLPHA

On January 24, 1979, Newfoundland Public Health Association received its Certificate of Incorporation under the Companies Act of Newfoundland & Labrador. On January 8, 2007 NLPHA’s Articles of Incorporation were amended under the Corporations Act of Newfoundland & Labrador to reflect the name change of our organization to Newfoundland & Labrador Public Health Association.
